Women Tribe - PRIDE NFT
PRIDE
“Say it loud, gay is proud!” — the official chant of the first gay
pride parade — echoed through the streets of Manhattan from
the Stonewall Inn to Central Park on “Christopher Street
Liberation Day”, June 28, 1970.
Marking the first anniversary of the Stonewall Inn riots — a gay
club in Christopher Street.
Early in the morning, this iconic Inn was raided by the police,
inciting a revolution. The gay community of Greenwich Village
had had enough, tired of the constant harassment they have
been enduring for years.
For six days, the community protested and fought law
enforcement outside the club. The gratuitous violence and
discrimination could not be tolerated anymore.
Serving as a milestone for the gay rights movement, not only in
the US but worldwide, the Stonewall Inn riots were a
galvanizing force for LGBT political activism.
This was only the beginning of this crucial human rights
movement. There is still a long way to go to achieve full LGBTIQ
rights and equality. 63 years after the first PRIDE parade, we
still have an astonishing 69 countries that criminalize
homosexuality.
Women Tribe - PRIDE NFT
Inspired by the idea of freedom, liberation, and inclusivity of
every individual’s right to be who they are, we are super excited
to announce our 2022 editions of our PRIDE NFT.
Launched this Friday, June 24, at 4 pm EST, in celebration
of this year’s PRIDE celebrations worldwide.
Each edition costs 0.02 ETH plus gas fees.
It aims to honor every person who is brave enough to
embrace their true selves and fight for the right of being who
they are, without reprisals.
Women Tribe believes in true equality and opportunities not
only for women everywhere but for every human being.
Therefore we couldn’t allow PRIDE month to pass us by without
celebrating it.
As a result, WT decided to create this edition so we could
commemorate and contribute to this movement by donating
75% of primary sales to an LGBTQI organization, selected by
our community.
The remaining 25% and 100% of secondary sales will proceed to
our DAO fund, giving a greater voice to our holders.
OutRight Action International
Our tribe has spoken, and the winner of our poll was OutRight
Action International, an amazing LGBTIQ organization that
works around the clock advocating for every person’s human
rights to be recognized and respected.
OutRight was founded in 1990 and is the only LGBTIQ
organization with a permanent presence at the United Nations
Headquarters in NYC.
Researching and documenting the discrimination and violence
suffered by LGBTIQ people around the world, OutRight
provides technical assistance and funding to countless LGBTIQ
organizations.
So well aligned with Women Tribe’s long-term vision of true
equality, we are very happy to say that 75% of the proceeds
generated by this edition’s primary sales will be donated to this
groundbreaking organization.
